MTSS: Multi-Tiered System of Supports
----------------------------------------------
What is MTSS?
At Mill Creek Elementary, our team is utilizing MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) to establish a systematic review of multiple sources of data and assessments and provide resources to improve the learning of all students, through integrated academic and behavioral supports.
With MTSS, the team is able to identify trends and patterns of individualized students and provide comparisons on school-wide, grade-level data. This view of academic and behavioral progress allows the team to identify students who require instructional intervention outside of what is provided universally for positive behavior supports and/or academic content areas. The MTSS team then identifies appropriate interventions that are targeted toward students’ area of needs and delivered individually or in small groups, at varying levels of intensity, increasing based on the tiered approach.
MTSS provides a continuum of integrated academic and behavior supports, which indicate the needs of the individualized students, with instruction, and supports at increasing levels.
